One of the first important things to do after setting up NodeBB is to set up an emailer plugin. While NodeBB does include a local emailer, if your forum is particularly active we recommend using an third-party emailer such as SendGrid which provides better deliverability for sites that send a high volume of email. Setting up SendGrid in NodeBB is very easy. Open the administrative dashboard using the 'gear' icon on your forum. Open the Extend > Plugins menu, and select the Find Plugins tab. Use the search on the right. Type 'SendGrid' and the plugin should appear -- select Install when you see it. From Installed tab on the Plugins menu, search again for 'SendGrid' and select Activate. Activating the plugin will require a restart of your forum. To restart, select the Dashboard menu and press the Restart button to the right. After NodeBB restarts, the SendGrid plugin will be active. After you restart, there should be a item called Emailer (SendGrid) under the Plugins menu -- if you don't see this right away, try refreshing your browser. Sign up to SendGrid Go to the SendGrid website, open the pricing page and scroll to the bottom. Click on the link and create your free account. Once you've confirmed your SendGrid account via email, you should be able to login to the SendGrid website. On the left side of your SendGrid dashboard, open Settings and click on API Keys. Click the button in the top right to create a new key. Make sure that the key has Full Access for Send Mail and Alerts.  When you are done, the new key to your clipboard. Now, return to the SendGrid menu on your NodeBB admin panel. Paste the API key into the field, and save your changes. Now go back to the Dashboard to restart your forum one more time. SendGrid should now be working for your forum. [image: youtubelogo.png] Setting up SendGrid mailer for NodeBB

I think you answered my point, by agreeing there are issues. I didn't even attempt to deploy nodebb, I had problems with much smaller projects! Nextjs routing was going through a change of design at the time, so perhaps that is less confusing now, but there were multiple other headaches. I would get build errors and issues with package management.

Hi Baris, And thank you so much for pointing me to the right direction. I was not clear how to delete/update these database settings. I have used Mongo_Express for this and cleaned the database according to your referenced topic. And it finally cleared the unwanted topics from my forum. Thank you so much. Rajendra

I've noticed over the past week on Mangolassi.it and now here when making another report that when I am surfing around the site, or clicking a button, frequently my browser will hang for a moment (up to several seconds). Then occasionally the browser will white out and say Not Responding.

I went to reference some of my chat history only to learn that I'm limited to only 3 months worth of history (on a technical forum 2-3 years would be nice) and even worse, I don't actually see the full three months, instead it only goes back exactly 2 months. Any chance you can re institute the history back for 3 months? I'd really like to retrieve a conversation there.

Hi all, We are currently looking for a way to customise the Lavender theme to make the user's Avatar/profile section in Topic View more "gamified" by showing statistics as well as the "Experience Bar" from the ns-points plugin. Currently, the theme looks like this when a user posts in a thread: http://cdn.experienceoz.com.au/assets/catalogueType/2/miscGraph/49460.jpg but I'd like it to look more like: http://cdn.experienceoz.com.au/assets/catalogueType/2/miscGraph/49461.jpg to help show progression, be more visual, etc. Is it possible to customise this through one of the .tpl files or would it require a root change to how the plugin works? Our sys admin says he thought it would require a change to the actual plugin; I thought it might be a matter of just relocating some of the CSS classes to the "profile.tpl" section of the user profile. Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated, cheers

Every time I try to access the website I get this error from the ./nodebb log { id: 3329, msg: 'connection failed, you are banned', extra_msg: 'you may retry in 102 seconds\n\r' } { [Error: This socket has been ended by the other party] code: 'EPIPE' } Does anyone know the solution?

This worked fine in 0.6.x but since I updated to 0.7.x it does not work anymore? Is it theme related or a bug?

@scottalanmiller said: That's a weird one. Truly. The weirdness is in fact the error comes randomly O_o Steps to reproduce: continue pressing a "Page Reload Button" (Ctrl + R?), one per 10-20 attempts you'll catch the error. No matter what page you are on, even ACP. And not only the one error, some others too https://a.pomf.se/pidgjn.png

Change your config.json to domain.com:4567 Then use nginx to forward reverse proxy 80 to port 4567 using the example in NodeBBs documentation
