Hi. I bought VPS and I'd like to install nodeBB.

I see a OS flamewar coming with this topic XD
Mine would be CentOS. Very stable OS and quite secure.

My NodeBB instance runs on Alpine Linux 3.5.2 inside a SmartOS lx zone...
Debian 7 is quite old. Try something more recent.
I do not run anything on Ubuntu except for my Unifi controller.
I use CentOS or Fedora for all production instances at clients.
It does not matter what Linux dist you use, but i prefer Container os (CoreOs) + Docker with Gentoo inside

For a general easy setup I can agree with pichalite.
However, with a little piece of brain you will be able to get nodeBB running on any OS.

https://www.archlinux.org/ = K.I.S.S.
Some say arch is for advance linux users only. Arch just like nodebb have the best online documentation.
@evoixmr Arch not just OS Arch is idea! XD
As others have pointed out, we test and build NodeBB against Ubuntu, so that may be the "best" OS, but that's definitely in quotation marks
Ubuntu has lot of support as well.
Windows ME, actually
@bri Amateur, I run NodeBB on DOS 6
@julian psh, you haven’t lived if not running NodeBB on CP/M.
Would not recommend.
