On GH and not on the NodeBB community? This is where we've always posted as it is the community. Never understood that you were wanting issues elsewhere.

Here is what avatars look like after an update to 0.9.0 on Gamrhaus which is, more or less, a test community for us..

nodebb-plugin-gravatarv1.0.1 contains options to default new users to gravatar, and force all users to use gravatar.Users will still see the option to change their picture, so you'd probably want to hide the "Change Picture" button via css/js/template changes.

Hmmmm.... looks like the upgrade script isn't working. After doing the upgrade and it thinking that it ran successfull, NodeBB lost the avatars but doesn't not appear to have upgraded.

Okay, second run fixed that. No idea what happened on the first run. Just repeated it and it was okay.

Looks like now it is only Gravatar, no fallback to local when there is a local from before. Better, but not quite a transparent move. We have users on the main forum that uploaded avatars before we forced them to gravatar and it has always been transparent. This isn't huge though, we can break them and force them to upgrade this way I suppose.

I really like these new user icons and can't wait to get them when I upgrade to 0.9.0. My question is, do all users that had a Gravatar automatically get the new icons instantly, or only once they re-login etc?

If they have Gravatar avatars, they lose them immediately. It depends what kind that they have.
