Why did you choose NodeBB?
So I kinda got interested in finding out why we use NodeBB. And instead of silently spamming @AOKP on Steam on why he is using NodeBB. I figured why not ask it in public. So guys, why are you using NodeBB as your site's forum?

RE: Need help about reputation stuff
By default, reputation is enabled on new installations. Users are allowed to up and downvote, the required reputation to downvote can be set. Also there won't be a reputation field on the profile page if the user has 0 reputation. Once the user acquires reputation then it will be shown on the profile.

RE: Chat function available after x amount of posts
I can actually stand behind this feature, seems like a great way to reduce spam from bots and toxic users.

RE: User Icons Testing
I must say, its nice to see that NodeBB won't depend so much on outside resources by default.

Ethernet cables serve fine as ropes!
So I wanted to write a little story of what I've been doing today, today after my work I went out on a site for second hand stuff, and found this old Dell PowerEdge 1850 for sale for 20 Eur, so I talked to the seller, he gave me his address and all. Everything smooth so far. Now! As I forgot I'm literally crazy and don't own a car. So how do I get a 1U rack server from place A to B. (7.7KM BTW) My original plan was to go get some climbing rope and carabiners I had at home, and then go on bike to the location. But as for everything I carefully plan out, nothing goes as plan.
By my surprise when I arrived at the location, I forgot the rope... "Shit!" I thought when I was ringing the doorbell of the office. Hoping I would figure something out I was slightly panicking to find something to strap down a ~20KG server.
Finally after I was done with talking to the seller and exhanged the money he asked me: "Sooo how did you get here" with my reply; "By... Bike..." The look on his face was amazing as I grabbed the server and put it back on my bike. "So you got something to strap it down?" he asked me. "Ehh about that", "Ye be right back, I'll have a look around"
After around 4 min of holding the server on the bike so it or the bike would not fall over he came back with a good 5 meters of CAT5E, so we strapped in the server on the back of my bike and I set off. Needless to say I had the most near accidents and people shouting at me for being a idiot... I've seen weirder stuff been carried on the back of bikes. But regardless now I got a second server to break, repair and collectively destroy :3So the moral of this story? or rather morales:
- Ethernet cables are damn strong and work near perfect for holding something (or someone)
- Always, ALWAYS think ahead of your transport methods!
- Always buy a electric bike!

RE: Does nodebb have a roadmap?
Hmmm... Just a thought but why not build it in NodeBB as a plugin?

RE: Are notifications working on this forum? [nevermind]
Best guess is that the NodeBB staff cleaned out the notifications for reasons beyond our knowledge. Magic!!

RE: Using CloudFlare with NodeBB
@ThingBreaker last time I checked with there live chat... I had 2 people say 2 different things. One said that they didn't support websockets at all (how!?) And the other one said it on there most expansive plans. One thing is for sure. They cannot make up there mind with what package supports what features

RE: A harsh lesson learned
Lets go onto more horror stories, As some of you know I have a dedicated server in my house, since he I like a high power bill
. While I was doing some maintenance on my server like cleaning out accumulated dust and so on. I decided to take a in the RAID cage. See if anything has gone in there. while working on the server I nearly tipped it over. But what was on top of them? 2 1TB HDD's in raid 0. (Yes... Raid 0, of all the things I could have chosen...) Both HDD's died, and currently have a older 2TB HDD in my server without any Raid. Lost some good data from those drives.

RE: v1.0.1... semver, automated builds, plugin upgrade tools, and more!
I know I can keep saying this many times, and I actually will... Since he why not. But I love to see the quality of life changes on NodeBB, you guys changed up the moderation system since it was sub-par, and now it looks allot better. The blacklisting of IP's is surely a nice addition. Can't wait to see what you guys do next in terms of inbuild features and what not.

RE: Is there any development plan for App( iOS & Android)?
@julian I actually had the idea of using the NodeBB API to pull in and compile all the data on its own to make it look pritty and whatnot, although my my skillset that would be virtually impossible

RE: Is there any development plan for App( iOS & Android)?
Are you aware of the nodebb app in the google play store? You can see its source here. https://community.nodebb.org/topic/6560/nodebb-android-app
