Is it Possible to install the free version on Ionos web space?

Is there a step-by-step guide?

You can use one of the VPS tiers, I'd guess that the VSP S or VPS M tiers should work for NodeBB. Just install Ubuntu on one and follow the Ubuntu installation docs: https://docs.nodebb.org/installing/os/ubuntu/

You can install on any VPS service, as long as they offer Linux.

The "web" option will not work. All providers use "web" to mean PHP.

Webserver in this case means
PHP / MYSQL / Apache 2

You would need node.js based Web-Environment
