Disable "About me"?
-
As "About me" is mostly abused, I would like to disable "About me". I only found a setting to set maximum length to "0". Did I miss something? In this community I do not see an "about me" section in my profile so there must be a way.
Oh and how can the "website" section in profile edit be disabled? At least there is a nofollow directive on that url.

Not a bad idea, definitely used by a lot of spammers.

Actually, there is still an "about me" on this forum (using the Persona theme).
Setting it to 0 length is a good indicator that the admin wants it gone, so perhaps we should just remove it if set to 0.
... that said, it brings up a good discussion of whether we want to add in the ability in the ACP to customise what fields to show

Personally I think we should merge About Me, Website, and Location into a single field. I don't see a particular use in separating them. I know the location mapping plugin uses that field, but it could just as well search for a location following
### Location
or whatever. While I'm throwing out ideas, I think it would be nice to be able to pin a particular post on your profile. Then "About Me" could just be the pinned post.

@PitaJ Awesome idea, indeed! If About Me, Website and Location are pulled into a single field this new field should at the same time be presented to the "Spam Be Gone" plugin elements to prevent spam in this field or it has no value long term IMHO.
