How do I set privileges for moderators or other users?
-
Wait what? I have to set moderators one at a time per category?
Please tell this isn't so. I have several dozen forums and I don't have time to set moderators and permissions on each one. Please tell me there is another way. PLEASE.

@djensen47 NOPE
-
Okay, thanks.

Guys... Aren't you both wrong on the subject? Why not simply make a (hidden) group for the users you want to have mod privileges and assign users to that group?
-
@Kowlin I think he wants the ability to set permissions for multiple categories at a time. The issue is not about setting permissions for multiple users. @djensen47 ?

Correct. I currently have 45 categories. It's a little too much but it's how the community wants it.
Imagine if you're me and you have to assign moderators, it's a pain in the neck. In some was crappy ol' SMF has NodeBB beat on this one. On SMF there is the idea of a global moderator. Now, I personally think the SMF approach is wrong but it is better than clicking through 45 categories setting up moderators.
I think assigning per category privileges should be the exception rather than the rule.

@djensen47 45?? You got a category for every part of the web there... Anyhow the group function can help you with setting up more then one in that case. Better then clicking
~10 times
per category then the~10*every moderator

@Kowlin Yeah, I know, it's a lot. A little less than half of that is one category for each edition of Axis & Allies. Axis & Allies .org Forums
Some of them really do need to be consolidated but if I try to consolidate too much, the community gets up in arms. Go figure.

@pichalite Do you know if i give user a 'Moderate' privilege ,what that user will be able to do ?

@pichalite said in How do I set privileges for moderators or other users?:
@djensen47 privileges are in the category settings. ACP -> Manage -> Categories
Click the edit button for a category and privileges are under the "Privileges" tab at the top of the page.

@baris said in How do I set privileges for moderators or other users?:
lock/delete topics/post
and the global mods can moderate all the categories?
-
@faizanzahid Yes that's correct.
-
@baris understand, but i have made a new guest category for doing anoynmous discussions and i DONT want the global-mods to be able to moderate this specific category. only admin should be able to,
all other categories should still be moderated by the global-mods but except this specific one, how do i do that?
