Looks like now it is only Gravatar, no fallback to local when there is a local from before. Better, but not quite a transparent move. We have users on the main forum that uploaded avatars before we forced them to gravatar and it has always been transparent. This isn't huge though, we can break them and force them to upgrade this way I suppose.

I really like these new user icons and can't wait to get them when I upgrade to 0.9.0. My question is, do all users that had a Gravatar automatically get the new icons instantly, or only once they re-login etc?

If they have Gravatar avatars, they lose them immediately. It depends what kind that they have.

Correct, the process of upgrading to 0.9.0 converts all Gravatar icons into letter placeholders.

We have a lot of users with issues that Gravatar is not working for them. Is there any feedback as to what is going on with the move? The Gravatar plugin works for some users but not all.

I am now getting Vendors that are really upset that this gravatar issues is there. We have lots of users who can't get gravatar working and it was previously.
