Theme Rocket sneak preview
-
Alright, it's about that time again, where we release a new theme to coincide with a major launch (v0.5x). It's still a work in progress and I think we've got at least a week tops to be able to have this done and stable enough. Thought I'd get you all a bit excited to see what's in store:
Anyways, these are just mockups for the most part, and a bit of a mix of some older and newer shots. There's still a bit of a ways to go. Looking forward to actually getting this out and putting this live

Theme Rocket as in Team Rocket??
If so, please take all my internets.
Also...beautiful theme!
-
I kinda like it but I have a few questions/remarks
- Home : Why are the bars on the category sometimes up sometimes down ?
- Home : You can now add a category to favorites and like it ? Or is it a home with topics previews ?
- Profile : Is the background banner a new feature or theme based ? I guess you did that with
filter:user.custom_fields
- Profile : The timeline thing is a good idea.
- Topic : The box with the users is who responded to the thread ? (new feature ?)
- Topic : Titles it seems YEAH
- Topic : The new way to navigate between posts is genius.
- I don't feel the mix of flat/clean design and web2.0 one (the gradients with shadows and rounded corners) it has a old and not so clean feeling which for a forum of the future is kinda disappointing.
Good job on this one I think some UI need rewamping but the features here are nice and I want them
-
Let me first start by saying this looks awesome!
-
There will be profile image covers? Or is that just to make it look good?
-
What does the red post count mean compared to the darker post count?
-
Interesting method of placing the first 3 user icons of all involved in the topic then + more in the topic template. Another thing I noticed in the same template is progress meter. How does that work?
Not to fond of the color scheme, but I'll adapt. What bothers me the most are all of the
text-shadows
andbox-shadows
. With all of the box-shadows, keep in mind that it will affect performance as it is pretty expensive to paint on certain browsers. -
-
Agreed on the note of mixing Web 2.0 and Metro, I'd prefer the latter out of the two if we had a choice.

:shipit: I'm working on something specific to Rocket that'll allow cover photos. It's still theoretically possible to turn it into a core feature, but at present it is Rocket-only (along with any offshoots of Rocket)

Yeah, I'm pretty much an amateur when it comes to duhsign - I just discovered gradients last week so I went to town with that (true story). I removed the box shadows and gradients and kept it flat and damn, it actually does look better afterall

yep

Unread topic, interestingly enough the API already handles this, but we've never implemented it in previous themes

Kind of like a scroll-spy. I borrowed the idea from Facebook:
You'll be able to click on those boxes to navigate through pages

is this theme official yet ?
-
@Alankrit-Choudhary, it hasn't launched to a stable release yet. It is heavily underway though!
-
@psychobunny will this theme support sub-category (0.5.1) ? thanks.
-
Is this theme available?

npm install nodebb-theme-rocket
We've used it in some testing.
-
@David-Moon Mileage will vary, github expressly states that
This theme is still a work in progress!
and it's not been updated for about 3 months. So may be incompatible with new features. -
Gotcha. Thanks!
-
When will this be ready? I want this now.....
-
Looks awesome man, can't wait to grab a copy of it.
