Nope. You would need to make a plugin. There's no way to add any additional data to the post without writing your own functions to handle the submit action.

@yariplus So I tried the "npm install nodebb-plugin-markdown@latest" and I got permanent 502 gateway error. Then, I tried deactivate > install markdown from the ACP. In the second attempt, markdown table works. In both cases I saw this. http://i.imgur.com/xsoyP7I.jpg Thanks for the help. Now I can finally have nice looking tables

Hello. I know this was asked so much times on the forum, but I've actually a problem since I use the NodeJS build from Openshift. I saw everywhere that I had to change the nginx configuration file, but I don't how to achieve that with my current configuration. I tried to install nginx, but it failed to resolve the issue. So, I was thinking that someone found a fix or a way to edit nginx configuration with Openshift. Thank you for your attention, Best regards.

You could definitely include them in the same repo. In your local, put the renamed repos in your nodebb/node_modules folder. (make sure you change the name in their package.json and plugin.json too) Then put an exclusion in your .gitignore for that directory, example !node_modules/nodebb-theme-my-persona then git add node_modules/nodebb-theme-my-persona and when you push your changes, it should include the plugin. What you set in the ACP is saved in the database, so it should persist. For user uploads, you should be using an external service like imgur, or the uploads may not persist between pushes.
