Hi guys, i'm looking for a solution to invite about 200 people at once to our forum. I tried the built in invite-feature with a comma separated list of emails, but this does not really work. In this case nodebb is generating only one email with one invite-URL and one token for all recipients and all addresses are shown transparent in CC-field of the email. I tried also to install the nodebb-plugin-user-invitations, but the plug-in doesn`t work with nodebb 1.5.3 any more, at least in my setup...I remembered the bulk invitation feature of the plugin and would test it again, but unfortunately it does not work anymore. I tested the plugin a few ago with 1.5.0 (or less) and uninstalled it, because we did not really needed it and recognized some problems with the core invitation system after a while and 1 or 2 updates of nodebb. After uninstalling the plugin the invitations from the core function worked well again. Does anybody know if there is another way to invite more the one user at once? Looks like we should be using https://schema.org/breadcrumb instead anyways. These attributes only exist for search engine robots anyways, I don't know why Firefox is complaining.

I have an instance of nodebb running in a subfolder of another site that is served via https. I can view the forum site without any problems but cannot view or install plugins (its possible I cant do other things but this is the obvious problem at this point). The error I get is the following: Error parsing plugins : Hostname/IP doesn't match certificate's altnames: "Host: packages.nodebb.org. is not in the cert's altnames: DNS:[domain].com, DNS:www.[domain].com. How can I overcome this problem?

It is advised to insert this libraries as a plugin module, which is specifically made for require.js scripts. Edit: New documentation page about it: https://docs.nodebb.org/development/plugins/libraries/

How big are you planning to go? MongoDB scales like crazy.

I know people hate thread bumpers, but for anyone who wants to self host their own mail server you can try mail in a box. Its free and open source easy to setup mail server.once you get it setup then you can just connect your smtp credentials and start sending mail with it. It should run pretty comfortably on a $5 or $10 vps. the advantage is you also get a fully functional email server so you can have staff email addresses and stuff.

@datcangio You can customize components

For a large part this is an architectural issue. It would extremely useful if it were possible to test a plugin on the production database in a development or staging environment. That's not possible when NodeBB gets the list of activated modules from the database. We have a similar problem like this with Drupal7. It's close to impossible to test something on the production data without making a copy (which is extremely unpractical with a large DB) because of the tight coupling between configuration and content. Haven't used it yet but Drupal 8 has improved on that issue quite a bit: https://www.drupal.org/docs/8/configuration-management/managing-your-sites-configuration
