One of the first important things to do after setting up NodeBB is to set up an emailer plugin. While NodeBB does include a local emailer, if your forum is particularly active we recommend using an third-party emailer such as SendGrid which provides better deliverability for sites that send a high volume of email. Setting up SendGrid in NodeBB is very easy. Open the administrative dashboard using the 'gear' icon on your forum. Open the Extend > Plugins menu, and select the Find Plugins tab. Use the search on the right. Type 'SendGrid' and the plugin should appear -- select Install when you see it. From Installed tab on the Plugins menu, search again for 'SendGrid' and select Activate. Activating the plugin will require a restart of your forum. To restart, select the Dashboard menu and press the Restart button to the right. After NodeBB restarts, the SendGrid plugin will be active. After you restart, there should be a item called Emailer (SendGrid) under the Plugins menu -- if you don't see this right away, try refreshing your browser. Sign up to SendGrid Go to the SendGrid website, open the pricing page and scroll to the bottom. Click on the link and create your free account. Once you've confirmed your SendGrid account via email, you should be able to login to the SendGrid website. On the left side of your SendGrid dashboard, open Settings and click on API Keys. Click the button in the top right to create a new key. Make sure that the key has Full Access for Send Mail and Alerts.  When you are done, the new key to your clipboard. Now, return to the SendGrid menu on your NodeBB admin panel. Paste the API key into the field, and save your changes. Now go back to the Dashboard to restart your forum one more time. SendGrid should now be working for your forum. [image: youtubelogo.png] Setting up SendGrid mailer for NodeBB

I think you answered my point, by agreeing there are issues. I didn't even attempt to deploy nodebb, I had problems with much smaller projects! Nextjs routing was going through a change of design at the time, so perhaps that is less confusing now, but there were multiple other headaches. I would get build errors and issues with package management.

@julian Yeah, I was thinking more of the Nginx Plux vs. Nginx Open Source duality. Too often such results in major split personality disorders wh/end up essentially forcing extortion to even get access to any reasonable docs or support. Nginx woes are still unclear. My concern is that if the bad actors succeed in their claims, then the license itself may be declared null and void. I can imagine this then leading to a scenario where "might makes right" and any forks then become their next targets. Crazy stuff happens in the US Federal Courts these days, particularly a certain district court in Texas, which has a well earned reputation for being very pro corporation in its rulings. Some towns thrive on industry, others eco tourism, etc. That TX town's niche is rich corporate lawyers dumping buckets of cash into the local economy. Anyways, I am still curious as to community reports regarding Apache deployments, as I have not used it in many years now. NodeBB rocks and is one of the best pieces of FOSS this ol' dinosaur had the pleasure of using. Keep up the great work.

Try setting "number of seconds a post remains editable" to 0. this issue only appeared after upgrading, so I don't know how to explain that It's likely a new feature was added or logic was changed on the back end, resulting in this.

But I had to add also swap file.. https://linuxize.com/post/how-to-add-swap-space-on-ubuntu-18-04/#before-you-begin

@intnbb you have to add the actual link to the calendar from the Navigation page in the ACP. I don't believe Calendar adds itself.

Hmm, I also noticed that a new user account registration was pending approval, but a click on the little red indicator icon lead to no redirection. Only something like "show all notifications" finally showed me the approval queue, where than a click on the green icon also lead to no further actions. Seems the Admin panel is a bit shaky now. NodeBB runs inside VMware, no crash or so happened with weekly backups of the VM. The core forum functions are working, so no big deal. If it falls apart I report back

@Simos Try removing the View Users privilege. Although that will disable the other routes as well like /api/user/uid/<uid>

@julian, if you see my config.json, https://domain.com : * is already there. Well, I guess the best option is to put the Wordpress site on the same server as NodeBB. I don't think it's going to be this complicated ;). Thanks for your help, @julian & @PitaJ

@Abhinov-Singh-0 A permission denied error means that some or all of the files in that directory are owned by a user that is not the same user as you are logged in as. It also suggests that the images may have restrictive privileges that do not allow them to be read by the user running the NodeBB process. Try this: cd /path/to/nodebb sudo chown -r $USER public/uploads Then try to run NodeBB again.

@Abhinov-Singh-0 I suggest learning about solving Linux permissions issues on your own. For now, I'm guessing you need to make it executable: chmod +x ./nodebb It may also be an issue with ownership, in which case you'd use chown. You can search for any of these topics and find hundreds of tutorials.

Probably not... but a good (if inaccurate) test would be to run ab against it from a different machine. e.g. ab -c 100 -n1000
