Final update, it worked on the production server!! so now our forum is working properly sending emails the Linux way on a Windows Server OS, quite nice I would say, just as a side note our forum is actually really small in number of users, as it is an internal forum, so I can't assure this setup will work out to other forum's expectations or needs, also I would like to add that this shouldn't be the way to do it on Windows as it is kind of a weird way to handle it so in later versions it would be nice to see it reworked or polished for Windows environments (especially because it looks like the program used to simulate sendmail on Windows is no longer receiving maintenance).

@baris well finally managed to get it working, I was missing to accept merging the branch when doing the pull.... but that was not enough as now it was showing me a problem with the widget essentials... so I checkout the commit for "up widget essentials" and that fixed it for me!!

I realize this is an old topic, but given that I'm dealing with exactly the same problem, I figured it would be sensible to reply here. Essentially, I've followed the advice of @pichalite and created a simple IIS forward proxy for my NodeBB server. Unfortunately this solution does not yield the desired result, as many requests for resources are not being made to the correct directory - instead, requests are being made to the root level of the IIS Web server (e.g., GET http//website.ca/stylesheet.css?4210ebb0-9225-4237-b2ad-87d88b61756b), and not to the specified port where NodeBB is being hosted (e.g., http://website.ca:4567 or http://localhost:4567).

Any ideas? I've played around with reverse proxies and outbound rules to route all outgoing traffic from http://localhost:4567 to the same URL I've specified for the proxy rule (e.g., http//website.ca/associates-hub) to no avail... If more info or screenshots are needed, they can be provided. I've been banging my head against the wall trying to cycle through all possible solutions to this problem. Any insight would be GREATLY appreciated.

I checked the solution and it works ! , thank you very much, though I applied the change on the file directly because if I update the whole project the emailer-local stops working... but I guess that's a complete different issue ^_^ .
