Ah okay, cool stuff so far man. Keep up the good work!
Thanks man. I am not a UI designer but I am trying to learn in the process.
Check out the theming guide that accompanies this work at http://burnaftercompiling.com/nodebb/nodebb-hands-on-theming-guide-part-1/
npm install nodebb-theme-lavender
Warning: Will not work with metro-tiles or category-info plugins. (I think so, haven't tested!)
Get the source on Github. Would love to see variations on this theme published
This looks very good. If I had to make a change, it would be to have a sidebar on the topic view page. That's all.
Thanks Not too sure what I should put there though. Alternatively I was thinking of a section on the right of the post content with profile information... maybe
For us commercial bloggers, the sidebar is a place for ads. Ideally, the width should not be less than 300px, Max is 310px, but not less than 300px. The sidebar can, of course, hold content similar to what's on the sidebar of the category page.
Related posts would be a prime example of what could go in the topic view sidebar, that is, aside from one or two ads.
That'd be interesting. Maybe a topic tags block as well. Totally going out of scope here (README.md: "A simple theme for NodeBB")
On a side note since we're on this subject, the team were discussing yesterday about potentially some sort of WYSIWIG editor in the ACP to drag and drop columns and adding in widgets from plugins in the sidebar. Maybe in the future
Yeah, widgetizing the sidebar will be totally cool. Plus the ability to add a widget that can contain any HTML/JS code.
Thanks for this tutorial.
Wow looks nice. I see you put in quite a bit of work here.
Hey guys here again, i seem to have a new bug. Basically when the theme is on a large monitor the threads are normal. But when i go to a small monitor they start duplicating themselves http://puu.sh/6rKKM.png
Weird, the actual code for loading threads is actually the exact same as vanilla. Is your nodebb totally up to date or are you trying this theme on an older codebase? Are you getting this problem on the vanilla theme?
@psychobunny On the vailla theme it works fine with no problems however this is only on the Lavender theme. Also i have the latest version
^^ @psychobunny do you know what could be causing this issue my frenemy
@julian Thank you for the update hush little bunny dont say a word
I had this issue too with duplicating topics. I found solution to it by editing category.tpl file , line 32 change category-list to category-item and it worked. If you want the styling to remain, you can just add class category-item before category-list
