I've been in Open Source "stuff" for nearly two decades and have learned many things... but node.js and friends is completely uncharted waters for me.

Which plugin are you using to embed images on these forums? I want to double check before I install "nodebb-plugin-embed-imgur" and "nodebb-plugin-imgur".
On that note, it would be cool to know all of the plugins that this forum is using. It would give people on the master branch a better idea of what plugins already work in 0.7.x

Just the imgur. Embed imgur is a plugin to use imgurs embed facility. (Think I made it actually)
