Anyone interested in helping with a template?
I have an existing forum that I'm considering converting to nodebb but having trouble finding a template that will work for our purposes. For the most part I really like the layout of our forum. The lack of backend and admin features are the main reason for switching. Here is a screen shot of the home page
Basically I want a template that I can add categories to and then forums under the categories. If someone can recommend a theme like this I would greatly appreciate it.
Alternatively I would be happy to hire someone to customize and existing theme.
Hi Joel, did you have a budget in mind?
We have some themes that are more traditional, but for the most part people stick with the lavender theme
I don't have a budget in mind but what ever is the easiest / most cost effective. I would be ok if the Categories where even hard coded in some way. I'm not a web developer so I really don't know what's involved in modifying or creating a theme.
Maybe I'll play around with the standard theme a bit more. My main complaint about it very busy and hard to easily distinguish the various sections when you first look at it. As you use it more it become more obvious how it's organized. I would consider putting the Category name and description within the blue header box, making the icon a bit smaller and placing it on the upper left. This way it would separate recent posts from the name / description.
I should also note that I'm a bit color blind so I need more contrast between colors or they tend to blend together.
How hard would it be to make modifications like this to the Lavender template? Since we have so many categories I still think some sort of sections to group the categories, even with the Lavender template would be really helpful.

there is the classic theme, its a little closer to your screenshot
Here is a mockup of what I'm thinking would be ideal:
@thesimon $175 for that.
IPBoard is cool, but the speed of NodeJS is so much more appealing
Yes the speed is cool but, also IP.Board and NodeBB are hosted on 2 different platforms. So there are some Pros and Cons to this. I would have liked for NodeBB to be on PHP >_> since that's what i know... and laravel.
@Teranode Clues in the name though. NodeBB. Based on NodeJS. If it were php it would be the same rubbish being pumped out by every other vendor stuck in the phpzebest attitude of the 90s. Imo obviously.
OP has decided to stick with NodeBB with some minor modifications to the home page as per screenshot.
@thesimon Thanks for the link to IPB, I'm sure it's a great platform.
