Anyone interested in helping with a template?

I don't have a budget in mind but what ever is the easiest / most cost effective. I would be ok if the Categories where even hard coded in some way. I'm not a web developer so I really don't know what's involved in modifying or creating a theme.
Maybe I'll play around with the standard theme a bit more. My main complaint about it very busy and hard to easily distinguish the various sections when you first look at it. As you use it more it become more obvious how it's organized. I would consider putting the Category name and description within the blue header box, making the icon a bit smaller and placing it on the upper left. This way it would separate recent posts from the name / description.
I should also note that I'm a bit color blind so I need more contrast between colors or they tend to blend together.
How hard would it be to make modifications like this to the Lavender template? Since we have so many categories I still think some sort of sections to group the categories, even with the Lavender template would be really helpful.

Here is a mockup of what I'm thinking would be ideal:

Just take ipboard 4. It is easy and "finished".

OP has decided to stick with NodeBB with some minor modifications to the home page as per screenshot.
@thesimon Thanks for the link to IPB, I'm sure it's a great platform.
