Suggested topics like Discourse

Discourse has suggested topics at the bottom of the page. That's a great way to keep users on the site as it allows them to discover new topics. It also serves as an attractive 'footer.' Would be great to get this in nodebb either as a plugin or core feature. May need a good algo to determine what to suggest...

Would be good as a widget. If the search was weighted, you could use that as a search point to get the other topics, but it think the search is currently Boolean. So they may not be "related".

I've built a lot of related tools on ecommerce sites, and usually do them 1 of 2 ways, I either just post "items" from the same category, or use tags and just show any related tagged content.

The search is weighted, yes... It can theoretically be done with Solr... It can be done in dbsearch plugin as well, but it would probably require a lot more work.

Someone issue it and I'll get around to it soon

I like the suggestion and in my opinion should be done with Solr, cause i think it will give most relevant result.

@kinderjaje Solr needs to be installed seperately, so wouldn't work very well with those on a low VPS

@a_5mith Yeah I'll admit Solr uses about as much memory as two instances of NodeBB, but for this server specifically, it's been running for a month (or so) now, with only 111mb in use. Not too shabby, but a bit cramped if you're on a five-dolla droplet.
