In nodeBB version 1.18, users get 504 error when trying to register.

Try
Go to the register page.
Choose a username
Enter your email address on the next page and wait. The result is 504.

Are you using the registration notification plugin? It seems to be causing issues for some people

@pitaj yes, I had to uninstall this yesterday due to the same reason.

@tecy If you use the Persona Theme and nodebb-plugin-custom-pages you can set a homepage like this

If you want to enforce that across all of your users, just disable "Allow User Home Pages"

@pitaj Thanks a lot : that really makes much more sense now.

I allready had deployed mailgun as a service through the use of an API key and that's what i was looking for !
Now that my domain has been created in the mailgun admin pannel and verified through the propagation of specific DNS records, i can confirm that the SMTP credentials are working and that the mails are being sent !

These clarifications were very helpful indeed ! 👍
