NodeBB shuts down

    Everything was working fine, suddenly out of the blue, my forum throws a 502 error.

    when I start NodeBB I get this

    Starting NodeBB with logging output
Hit Ctrl-C to exit
The NodeBB process will continue to run in the background
Use "./nodebb stop" to stop the NodeBB server
Clustering enabled: Spinning up 1 process(es).

    I'm not sure how you managed to install packages without modifying package.json, maybe some kind of privilege issue, but you need to modify package.json so it has the versions specified in the error message.

    Maybe your installed NodeBB as root or something? Try changing the permissions of your install with chown.

    @phenomlab the postbuild script will only run when you execute ./nodebb build via npm run build as that has the logic to execute the postbuild step. The postbuild script should probably be modified to only sync the build/public folder after the initial sync. There should be no need to sync public with every build unless the version of nodebb changes. All new uploads would already be stored in the S3/R2 bucket by the s3 upload plugin.

    So a npm run build init for the initial sync that includes all static assets, and then just npm run build that only syncs the rebuilt assets such as templates , plugins etc.

    Hello,
    I was installing NodeBB today and I after a successful install, I tried running nodebb start only for the nodejs script to pop up and the code to crash. This was in my nodebb log :

    I couldn't find anything questions similar my issue and any help would be appreciated.

    Redis for Windows is not well supported. In fact, it's not even officially supported by Redis. I always use Mongo on Windows. (and I dev on Windows) because Redis is a pain to set up.

    Python is used for build scripts for dependencies AFAIK. This may no longer be necessary.

    Thanks @julian! Works now. Seems like we'll have to rerun build each time we npm install a new plugin 😄

    On Concurrent WebSockets connections...

    A Lightstreamer plugin would be interesting to see. Likely overkill in most situations though. Carving out the websockets demand on resources could be good in large deployments; lightstreamer server. With Comet functionality, one could hook into big data analytic platforms.
