Need freelancer with Nodebb experience

@psychobunny Tnx for your replay and suggestions. I already talked with @julian, but unfortunately my budget is out of his range.
-
@psychobunny Me and @kinderjaje have spoken before, but his ideas, as he explained them to me, would cost me too much time I currently don't have. I would consider it if I was less busy
-
@kinderjaje
I am personally a little too busy for custom work at the moment, however I would suggest the following:Publicly share your ideas. maybe open features/plugins requests in separate gitbub.issues/forum.topics, if the core team and the community like the idea and show support, the usual flow is to argue if the feature goes core or as a plugin, then, someone usually gets excited about it, picks it up and builds it for the internets karma.
It's definitely a slower process than working closely with someone you hire, but if none of us is available for private work at the moment, or if the cost is too expensive, you still shouldn't let your ideas go to waste. Unless it's really some custom work for your specific use case only.

Rofl!! Also cool, I copied the above text on mobile and when I clicked on reply, it filled the composer with the quote. Wtf? #featuresyoudidntknow haha
-
@psychobunny Doesn't seem to do it on desktop.
-
doesn't work for me on chrome or FF desktop. but cool surprise when it worked on mobile

I am still looking for some developer who wanna integrate me other js open source codes from github.
Hit me up on skype:ksifoking for better communication.
Btw when i go to my profile to see what topics i created this is waht i get http://screencast.com/t/mKFln3RFhK
-
@kinderjaje Send an email to sales[at]nodebb.org, they take on custom work from time to time. I can recommend them, they build some great software.
-
Hehe, I belive but like i said in previous post their rates are high for me ^^. I am not company or firm, just solo guy trying to make something for users.
-
@kinderjaje Freelancers will probably charge you more. You could learn how to do it yourself, or if your feature would benefit other users in the future, you could put it in the plugin ideas topic and hope that one of the plugin creators likes the idea of it and makes it (not guaranteed).
Hope this helps.

@a_5mith "we charge $95 USD per hour" that is a quote from Julian, so freelancer i look cant cost that bro. With due respect for everyone works on nodebb and their own values, but for me that is sick price. I dont know how much u guys earning but 95$/h lets say u work 8h per day its its 760$ daily/22k a month. I think google emplyers and in some really really big companies have that salary.
In my city people are willing to do hard work for 100e per month, which is little more then 100$.
My budget for start is 400$ to integrate other .js library from github as plugin to nodebb. I am willing to work on long term for this cause i know exactly what i want, just need someone to do it.
Posting in "Plugin suggestion" is good , but for this i need someone to do it asap. I might post other suggestion there.
Hope you understand my PoV.
Anyway, I think i already have deal with one guy from here.

@kinderjaje That's a reasonable price, your example assumes that freelancers are working full time, we don't. I often go weeks without work. People that work for Google are on a guaranteed wage at the end of the month no matter how many lines of code they write. Freelancers (me included) often go 2-3 weeks, sometimes even months without work. So forgive us for charging more to make the equivalent minimum wage at the end of a month. If you can get the work done locally for cheaper, go for it. But I can assure you I earn nowhere near 22k a month, and I charge £125 ($210) an hour just to make changes to existing e-commerce websites. And I'm very competitive when it comes to my pricing. Development Agencies will usually charge closer to £300.
Think about it this way:
$95 per hour - 100 words per minute
$40 per hour - 40 words per minuteYou need a 1000 word document translated into another language.
At $95 per hour, it would cost you $950.
At $40 per hour it would cost you $1000.Which would you pick?
-
Haha. Yeah our prices are set that way because our obvious priority is to develop the NodeBB core. So anything else like developing a for example
My Little Pony API
plugin that isn't immediately useful to the rest of the community is charged at a premium for that exact reason. That said, we do tend to be flexible if the feature / plugin is actually pretty useful or something we were planning on doing eventually anyways.
In any case, hit us up with your features and budget and let's see what we can do?
EDIT: lol wut @a_5mith $210 an hour?
-
@a_5mith As I said its sick price for me. I know that might be someone who charge 1000$ per hour, but that is what i dont need.
Also, for me there is no sense to charge higher price only cause u dont have work. I dont know how its even possible to not have work as a developer/designer in this "internet time", only what it came to my mind is that you dont wanna work (dedicated time to something else) or ur prices are to high.
My point smith is that I am not the guy u are looking for. You are looking probably some firm/company or individual who have big budget. As i said few times, I have limited monthly budget and need someone who wanna learn, earn and code. That's all.
Didn't understand your point about they way, how 40$/h can cost same as 95$/h. Only thing it came to my mind is time delivery, which play role in my situation, but i would rather wait instead to get charged double.
@psychobunny I totally understand that, and i knew it from very same start of talking with Julian that the prices will be high, cause ur main thing is nodebb, and not some random guy who ask plugin for some small amount of $. Totally understand that.
Anyway, u should fix this. I was already replaying to smith, but in meain time u replayed bunny, so when i clicked replay button http://screencast.com/t/eMf0xHuW2ve it didnt "@mention" ur name into composer.
And also bug above i showed, which doesnt show/list this topics under my topics http://screencast.com/t/mKFln3RFhK

As a freelancer, I pick all of these variables, I change it, this is what gives us the freedom to work on other projects and generally lead a life that we decide, this is why we're freelancers, if I wanted constant work and to charge less, I'd work for an agency and guarantee myself a paycheck at the end of the month. I don't charge more when I don't have work. I charge the same amount per hour whether I've got 3 projects or 13.

Time delivery is exactly my point. It could take a member of NodeBB 2 hours to do the work you requested. Yet it could take someone else 5 or 6 hours to do the same thing. Have a read through this website and you will see exactly what freelancers go through every day.

Nice site, tnx for share.

@kinderjaje A personal favourite of mine
After sending two invoices for payment, I sent another and called the client when the receipt that they had received came back.
Client: Why are you calling me?
Me: You haven’t paid and this is the third invoice I’ve sent.
Client: It’s even more than the last one!
Me: Yes. The contract you signed stated that I would add a late fee for payment.
Client: You mean I have to actually pay you? I thought you were joking!
Me: What on earth made you think that?
Client: You’re a freelancer!
Me: And…
Client: Well, you work for free! If you were supposed to be paid, you’d be called a paidlancer or something! -

That's actually crazy low and I would recommend to the NodeBB guys that they reconsider working for anything so low. They are a unique resource and can do custom work at a rate and efficiency that no one else can touch. No one. I totally understand that you can't afford them, that's not cheap to a home user. But this is Node.js development we are talking about. At $95/hour these guys are literally doing work as a favor.
I work for a consulting firm and if you wanted us to look at this we'd be 50%-100% higher and we don't have the kinds of Node.js and certainly not the NodeBB skills that they have. That's just basic market price. Anyone capable of doing this work is going to be very expensive. Even if you live in a low cost area, Node.js skills are universal so people doing that work there can get paid to work in NYC, London or Toronto remotely or relocated to where the work is.
You can find cheaper people out there, sure. But you can't find better ROI or TCO, I guarantee it.
