The "official" embedded card solution for NodeBB appears to be Iframely.

My question is why was this chosen over Embedly?

I'm asking because after 1, yes 1 day of use, I'm at 13k hits on the API. So my monthly is looking in the ballpark of 400k API hits, which is $291/month. 😨

It looks like Embedly has both a Javascript SDk solution $9/month and an API solution, like Iframely, for about the same price as Iframely.

Anyway, I was just wondering if I'm missing something about Iframely. 😀

Maybe because there is an open source version of their service that you can run for "free"? That might work.

    Yes, you can self-host iframely.

Also there is nothing preventing someone to build a embedly plugin 😄

@djensen47 as far as I know, yes. If it doesn't, we'll fix it. Just open an issue and let us know.

@hollosch Yes, you can use the nodebb-plugin-iframely plugin, but ensure you use

GitHub - itteco/iframely: oEmbed proxy. Supports over 1800 domains via custom parsers, oEmbed, Twitter Cards and Open Graph
