Whooooo wants WYSIWYG?

I'm not sure I do anymore. I did until I started playing with Nodebb. Then I decided it might not actually be needed.

Anything that makes the transition from normal BBcode to Markdown easier works for me. A lot of my members have never even heard of Markdown, so going from
[url=link]text[/url]
to[text](url)
seems alien to them.I noticed that @psychobunny uploaded a plugin to his github earlier to convert BBcode to Markdown, which looks like a brilliant tool that will definitely come in handy. Maybe even extending the Visual Editor/Kitchen Sink to include common markdown that people might not necessarily be aware of.
Code tags for example, and bold/italics. Perhaps highlighting the text, then clicking the icon would alter that text to be italics for example.

Up for that

I was just thinking about that, and found this post. Yes, it should be optional at least or as plugin.

This would be awesome to have implemented as an option. Most of my target audience are used to typical BBCode. While several would love Markdown, it will be like a second language to most.
