    • Option: Follow topics you reply to automatically

When I reply to a topic, I'd like to be able to follow it automatically, as an option in the Settings area. This is a useful option that other forum software has and I think NodeBB would benefit from it.

      Here's some reasons why:

      • Users will be more engaged as more people reply
      • It's easier than remembering to click the heart button > Watch
      • It makes sense

Here's how it works in detail:

      • Open up a topic
      • Post reply to topic
      • Topic is automatically added to subscriptions and you will be notified when new replies are posted
      • Feature can be turned off in Settings

    • Starbound

Anybody else been playing Starbound? It's pretty darn cool.
It's like Terraria but you can travel between planets and there's a variety of different monsters and stuff.
      Check it out: http://playstarbound.com/

    • Liking the change to notifications!

This looks a lot better than "User made a new post, User made a new post, User made a new post..." 😛

@a_5mith I might be basing my dislike of those redundant notifications on the fact that I have Chrome notifications enabled for this forum, so I get two popups every time a mention of me plus a reply in a watched topic happens, but I still think it needs grouping.

    • RE: Whooooo wants WYSIWYG?

Would love to see this as a side-by-side view, like in Ghost or Discourse. Format with Markdown on the left, or format with WYSIWYG on the right, and both panes update at the same time.

    • Multiple forums on one codebase

I currently run several forums (with different domains, databases, and subjects) off of a VPS using Vanilla Forums, which I have set up so that each forum uses the same core files. This makes it easier to update these forums.

I like NodeBB and want to start using it for one of my forums and eventually all of them if it goes smoothly, but I'm wondering, can I run multiple forums off of one NodeBB instance? This would save update hassles and possibly RAM if my noobish understanding of how NodeJS works is correct.

I haven't actually installed NodeBB yet, so you'll have to forgive me if I sound stupid.

    • RE: NodeBB integration with Tapatalk

imo the only reason to use Tapatalk on a forum is if that forum doesn't have a good mobile interface, which NodeBB has.

Also, seems that it costs $69 a month. https://tapatalk.com/faq.php

    • RE: Ye Olde English

@a_5mith Sounds good. The forum I'm looking to convert is dead in terms of activity and I don't expect it to pick up anytime soon, so that works.

Big fan of games and am a hardcore PC gamer here. If you need some help getting that site going, I'd be happy to help.

    • RE: NodeBB integration with Tapatalk

NodeBB also has Pushbullet support, albeit only on the official forums currently. I really don't see the need for a dedicated app for NodeBB anytime soon, or even putting dev time in for Tapatalk support, when it's really not necessary.

Either way, my opinion is that it would be a waste of dev time that could be spent better elsewhere on the project.

But, let's see what the dev team thinks. I'm just stating my thoughts on the matter.

    • RE: Inbox for Google

@a_5mith I haven't opened Gmail on the web or on my OnePlus One since I started using Inbox about a week ago. It's really hooked me on the whole inbox zero idea with the task-oriented design. I really like the snooze feature too, sometimes I forgot to address emails later on in Gmail.

@Nodekko I think that's unnecessary clutter, personally. But a plugin developer here may take interest.

    • RE: The spam is real.

@a_5mith I have had very good luck with Akismet on some Vanilla forums I run. Sometimes tools like Project Honeypot or StopForumSpam let new spammers through, while Akismet detects spam and hides it. I believe a combination of both is pretty powerful.

I do agree though that captchas just aren't good these days. I hate filling them out, and they're pretty ineffective against modern spammers.

@j3nkl3r What exactly is buggy for you? It would help if you submitted bug reports to improve NodeBB and reach that level of stability you're looking for.
