[nodebb-plugin-osm-map] OpenStreetMap based map to locate users
-
Some members of my community wanted exactly something like that, so huge thanks!
I've just set it up and it's working pretty well!
@Thrrp The main downside I've found right now: when two members have the same location, you can only see one. Is it something that needs to be changed at the MapBox level or an issue with the plugin itself?

@psychobunny You can look at https://www.veloartisanal.fr/map for the moment (until I find how to read and use the restrict access on user details).
@lunar I've uploaded a new version with marker clustering and the fix for chat window.
@davidr As @The-Worms said, go to https://www.mapbox.com/account/access-tokens to request a token

I can't see much use for this in my forum, but goddamn that's neat. Well done!

@Thrrp great plugin. Thanks a lot.
we have our forum installed at subfolder .com/forum/
but when users are clicked on it, plugin sends us to ".com/user/..." instead ".com/forum/user..."
Can you fix it? So, it will add subfolder name to the url...
Thanks.

@crazycells i've pushed a new version (0.0.10) yesterday. It should fix your issue, let me know if some problems remains.

New NodeBB 2.0 version of the osm-map plugin (1.0.0) breaks the "post tool options" window for old NodeBB versions...
We are still at NodeBB 1.19.5 and Persona Theme 11.4.4 ; when I upgraded to osm-map 1.0.0 , the post tools window of any post cannot be opened anymore.
I am writing to let others know about the incompatibility. We have 50+ plugins, and I tried one by one to figure out the problematic plugin so, you do not need to spend your time
I will update here after we start using NodeBB 2.0

Hello
How to use this plugin?
I have plugin configure with access token. I have a map but no users on it :Thanks

@crazycells said in [nodebb-plugin-osm-map] OpenStreetMap based map to locate users:
@DownPW map takes the information from the "location" field in your profile page.
make sure you reboot your nodebb after activating the plugin. Users should automatically appear on the map...
thanks @crazycells for your answer
yes I have rebuild and restart NodeBB but nothing on the map

hmm, you are sure people have their locations on their profile page, right?
can you re-write your location on your profile and save it again?

Arf OK, it's based on profile page location and not location Ipaddress on Profile/Login Sessions..
It's Ok if I put manually a city when I edit Profile... Thanks @crazycells
For once, this plugin will not necessarily serve me.
it would have been interesting to rely on the IP address -

With the widespread and increasing use of VPN's, I think probably best served using Profile info. Those who do not care to reveal such info as part of their Profiles' privacy would also be better respected.
My $0.05

is this plugin v3 compatible? has anyone tested it yet?
