Is there anyway to remove the ability of viewing the forum? I basically only want members to be able to view the forum. im using 0.8.2

I dont want the guest to see the content of the forum, only after they are approved and registered

You can do this by removing the guests group from the privileges page on the categories you want. See the screenshot below as a example.

there was a plugin to limit access by default:

@tchesley85 when creating a category you can always clone the settings (that includes privileges) of an existing category.
