>86mm rain for Dec 30 would be bad. Thankfully this is so far off that there's still time for an unexpected cat sneeze this afternoon to throw the whole thing into a different outcome 12d from now.
@furicle hmmm, I believe the imaging unit IIRC. I did a test and measured the distance between defects. The replacement was $400 so planned to replace the whole thing. Was printing some other stuff today and it was showing additional symptoms, I think it's probably time for it to retire.
a lot of non-Chinese companies do a shit job of providing regular and responsive updates too. It feels like a bit of a see-saw between intelligence groups trying to gain a bit of upper hand on being the first to receive <0d. Obv a Chinese company is going to obliged to favour the local goons and not be too cozy with the NSA or it's proxies in corporate security.

Long-range GFS feels that a huge chunk of Ontario and Quebec will be basically snow-free for New Years Eve. White Christmas not looking great for #Ottawa. Snow depths in the single digits. But it will be freaking cold this weekend.
@mpjgregoire some parts of monetary policy might be quick, like cancelling a real-world investment to buy a shiny new high-interest riskless govt. bond. But in Canada's recent cycle, it took a long time for it to work into mortgage rollovers, plus a ~1y period where the increase in mortgage/housing costs due to monetary policy were a huge chunk of stubbornly high inflation. So slow and goal-defeating to some degree.
@sloot these are implications of MMT, a detailed theory that describes the existing operations of govts that issue their own fiat currency, like most sovereign states. When you create money from nothing, the rules and constraints are opposite to what a regular user of that currency experiences. There is a link to a primer in my profile. "The Deficit Myth" is a good accessible book on the subject...
@dillyd slow, shoddy work. 3 week project started mid-Sept, still dragging on. Basically all the finishing is garbage and has to be redone...soffits, fascia, crooked trims, poor or missing caulking, mess everywhere, and 4x past project end date.
Previous forecasts had #ottawa 's snow mostly melting, and then being replenished by a solid snowfall on the 23, but that has now changed. Snow to melt over the coming days and then will struggle with a forecast depth on Christmas morning of only 3cm. Still lots of time to change.
I think #OttawaSenators have the University of Ottawa Gee Gees goalie for an emergency backup. Canadian uni hockey is about 5 tiers less competitive than the NHL... hopefully Ullmark finishes the game...
@johnefrancis @mhkohne I do strongly suggest trying one or more of the alternate user interfaces. I personally am huge on phanpy.social it's both web and (via PWA) a nice client on mobile.
