@kotaro I don't think they'll be banned in general. But perhaps banned for use in sensitive places like critical infrastructure (utilities, govt, etc)

I heard that TP-Link's WiFi routers are being banned from the US. -
Shopping for a replacement colour laser printer for my dying Lexmark cs410dn.@furicle hmmm, I believe the imaging unit IIRC. I did a test and measured the distance between defects. The replacement was $400 so planned to replace the whole thing. Was printing some other stuff today and it was showing additional symptoms, I think it's probably time for it to retire.

>86mm rain for Dec 30 would be bad.>86mm rain for Dec 30 would be bad. Thankfully this is so far off that there's still time for an unexpected cat sneeze this afternoon to throw the whole thing into a different outcome 12d from now.

So apparently in 1993, Avon (the MLM (not that MLM (or that kind either))) commissioned a Soft Foam Telephone.@foone sounds like somebody's getting a (working) christmas present!

Shopping for a replacement colour laser printer for my dying Lexmark cs410dn.Shopping for a replacement colour laser printer for my dying Lexmark cs410dn. Equivalent replacement cs431dw is about $420, but the prices of supplies is horrifying. $200 for "small" 1.5k pages toners (4) or $400 for "large" 7k, and I see various disclaimers about region-locked toners.
These seem to have really increased in price.
I don't print much, but avoid inkjets because the inks always dry out and inkjet business practices are even worse.

Chatter about banning TP-Link equipment.a lot of non-Chinese companies do a shit job of providing regular and responsive updates too.
It feels like a bit of a see-saw between intelligence groups trying to gain a bit of upper hand on being the first to receive <0d. Obv a Chinese company is going to obliged to favour the local goons and not be too cozy with the NSA or it's proxies in corporate security.

Chatter about banning TP-Link equipment.Chatter about banning TP-Link equipment. I have some, works great, gets updates. Probably secure enough for my purposes. Various complaints from western security orgs about poor responsiveness to reported vulns.
Another perspective is the Open-WRT One that just arrived. Open and great in many ways, but made in China and distributed via AliExpress... does that make it a security risk..even though I'm going to flash it with OpenWRT all the time?

Give me a beat to feel nostalgic about snowmobiling and backyard ice rinks in #Ontario in the 1990s...@stephanie @sendtherunners I feel that was a performative opening, not a functional opening. If there aren't >25 digits lost to frostbite, in aggregate, then it's not really opened.

The heifers were feeling spicy today.@joeyfarms I wonder what they're spicy about.

As we boarded the WestJet flight to Edmonton this morning, the flight attendant advised us to stow our suitcases in the overhead bin, but to leave any emotional baggage behind in Ottawa.@Paulatics don't leave it here! It just keeps piling up behind the airport, until there's enough for someone to make a terrible play out of it.

Give me a beat to feel nostalgic about snowmobiling and backyard ice rinks in #Ontario in the 1990s...@sendtherunners winter conditions around #Ottawa have been poor in recent years. Canal has not opened for 2 years. Looks like a green Christmas this year.

California Ground Squirrels make progress towards carnivorous preying upon humans.@stephanie soon the only safe pants fashion will be metal flares, basically a squirrel baffle on each calf.

Oy, keeping our elders even able to use their increasingly ridiculous TVs and "sound bars" and 30,000 remotes with 30,000 buttons and wifi and smartphones and and and is practically a full-time job.@casseagull I once plugged a VGA cable into my TV, and the TV never forgot about it. Even after various updates and patches. It still shows up as a selectable, non-greyed input in the list and for input cycling.
Cursed I say!
