@greyduck @djsundog Actually, jokes aside, I just missed the tape era, but dial up I remember well. I was in a coffee shop once and a couple on a date was sitting next to me and the guy made a joke that involved doing the dial up noise. The girl he was out with was like "What are you talking about, what is that noise?" and then they both had an awkward "uhh, wait, how old are you?" moment, realized they had a huge age gap, and were super awkward and left shortly after. It was hilarious.
