kids don't even know you used to go to the mall and go to a store inside the mall and find boxes that had computer programs inside and you'd look at the boxes and compare them to other boxes and decide which computer programs you wanted to run and pay for them at the counter and take them home and find out they sucked ass. they just don't know.

@djsundog I 1000% do not miss typing in entire programs. (And then, in the case of my Commodore PET 2001, saving them to Actual Cassette Tape Don't Mix These Up With The Audio Cassette Binder They Do Not Rock They Sound Horrible.)

@greyduck @djsundog Actually, jokes aside, I just missed the tape era, but dial up I remember well. I was in a coffee shop once and a couple on a date was sitting next to me and the guy made a joke that involved doing the dial up noise. The girl he was out with was like "What are you talking about, what is that noise?" and then they both had an awkward "uhh, wait, how old are you?" moment, realized they had a huge age gap, and were super awkward and left shortly after. It was hilarious.
