How do i activate email notifications

Looking at the codebase, it seems like NodeBB should be able to send emails to users, but I can't find where I'm supposed to put the information about the email address it should be using. Does anyone know where I should put this information and what information I will need exactly?

I cant figure this out either. Im on heroku and would like to use a service like SendGrid

Right now, the capability isn't there yet for use of services like SendGrid or PostageApp. I've started work on allowing third party usage of those services, but until then, NodeBB will only support local sendmail.

Obviously, this isn't the ideal solution, so we'll be working towards opening up NodeBB to other emailers in the next version

so when you say it will not support services like SendGrid, does that include configuring the forums to work with Gmail?

what is local send mail? I don't see where that can be configured

It ought to support services like SendGrid. It just doesn't right now but is on my list of todo
