so after talking to trevor and seeing comvoe, and now galaxygraph.fr i really want to get my site going. If there are devs out there please let me know. I want to run something like convoe and galaxygraph, but id like the first category to be closed to replies only and used as a blog for admin. Then five or so other public categories.

Theres a few other things down the pipeline. Id like featured images used in posts, and maybe even categories .tpl.

And a few other ideas that will be, well, expensive, and better suited for when nodebb is out of beta.

Please help! The url will be bikenode.com
Ive played with customizing stylesheets and tpl design a bit in the past. If you can help shoot me an email

    [email protected]

    Thanks.

    My suggestions:

    1. Decide the purpose of your site
    2. Draw a blue print of the skeletal structure design, like how many categories, whether it should be designed as a blog or forum or a community structure like convoe.
    3. Pick a base theme and play around with it, u will get the hang of customizing nodebb themes easily, then build on it and make it into your own style.
    4. Will take up to a month or so, but at the end u will have an awesome nbb community .
    5. Most importantly have a theme or purpose, because making a community active with lots of members is harder than designing it.
    6. Last but not least, bug all the admins and moderators here, with all your doubts. I have been bugging them from last one week, they will be happy to help you. 😉

I can appreciate the response but you seem to have missed me saying ive played with nodebb templates, made css stylesheets and already have a rather specific domain for the website. This project is good to go.

If whoever is interested in working with me on this project wants more input ive got it but im keeping my request simple.

Signed up a long time ago and have bugged devs to death. Im not interested in a $7000 website i just want help making a few tweaks and going live so i can start publishing things i needed to get published two months ago.

I cant find a web designer on craigslist. I mean i can, but theyre either noncommital or unreaponsive and wont even quote me on time or the project...

I know there has to be websites to help get this site done. What are they? I want this thing done by end of the week. Or at least online. Thanks.

Are you asking for help installing NodeBB and getting the site live? Or a theme to be built for your site? The installation is easy, but I've not got the time to accept custom functionality or designs. Locking categories to read only is built into NodeBB already. So that's not an issue.

If you just want a forum online that can accept posts etc, then I'll do that for you, wouldn't take long.

@kevin There's always going to be web designers available to do work, but your inability to secure a web designer leads me to believe that you're looking for a unicorn, a dev who can do great work very quickly, at rock bottom prices.

    In a nutshell, pick two:

    pick two

Now, I'm definitely willing to admit there are exceptions. There are a bunch of bad devs out there, and it's sometimes paralysing to think that there are bad devs who charge the same as good devs, but in general, that triangle holds true.

How wrong you are, @julian. lol. So far I've had nothing but people saying "yeah sure I'll do that" then followed by dead silence.

nope. Need no help with installation. need help with bootstrap, java, nodeBB hooks, etc.

@kevin I'd recommend emailing sales[at]nodebb.org and getting a quote from them for the dev work. Will send you a message now.
