your summary sounds correct.
And yes, the NodeBB database is independent, you can use MongoDB
Hi, noticed a potential usability issue when navigating large threads on mobile.
Was playing around with my test instance these days, and noticed that in large threads (i had one with over 300 posts), there is no way for me to quickly get to the latest post (at the bottom of the thread) without scrolling multiple times.
Is it possible to have a NAV bar on for the mobile version of the site, similar to what we have on the desktop, eg:
This is something out forum members has been complaining about also.
@a_5mith thanks, community rep! Just what I needed XD
Any way we can look into this further? Scrolling 300 posts just to view the latest post within a thread is not that user friendly.
Maybe a "hover" button at the side or something. To quickly view pre/next post and top/bottom?
I'm open to mock-ups or even sketches of a UI interface for this that blends in well given our screen real estate constraints...
Some kind of paging function would also be good for mobile devices where RAM is frequently at a high premium.
NodeBB causes not-infrequent browser crashes on my iPad2 on longer threads. When I click a link that takes me to the 60th post in a thread or something, there is a long delay as the slower browser begins by loading the op oldest posts in batches. It would be good if there were a way to make it skip doing that and take me directly to the unread posts (without switching the full application to paged mode).
Perhaps on mobile devices you could add a secondary navigation bar with the paging functions (arrows, "displaying X-Y of Z", etc).
