Discouragement and user discipline
-
XenForo has a feature in the core which is very interesting and which is excellent which is the following: Discouragement and discipline of the user
In particular, it allows the home page to take half an hour to load for trolls, to point links anywhere, etc.
-- Here are some other options preview:
- loading delay numbers and seconds): Discouraged users will be subject to a page loading delay of a random period in between
- The blank page of the unlucky:
You can occasionally present a blank slate to discouraged users. Enter the percentage of
chance for this to happen - Flood multiplier: The standard minimum time between messages can be multiplied to make users wait longer
discouraged between two publications. Enter a multiplier here. - Search Disruptor: When discouraged users attempt to search, this option sets the percentage chance that they
find it disabled, (O = never, 100 = always) - Random Redirect: Enter the percentage chance that a discouraged user will be redirected to the redirect page.
- Redirect Page URL: You can randomly redirect discouraged users to another page. Leave this field Blank to redirect
to the forum home page. - Add User Group for Banned: When a user is banned, they can be added to a specific user group while the ban is
active. This allows you to override the cfusers group style, for example.
Send reports in the forum: If a forum is selected here, the report center will be disabled and a topic will be displayed each time content
will be reported.
It would be super cool to have this kind of thing in NodeBB core (or as a plugin) or something close to it. In any case, it would be very useful to me and I'm sure I'm not the only one

@DownPW definitely a nice candidate for a plugin.
Though keep in mind that if the griefed user logs out of their account, then they would instantly know that their account is flagged for slow down since access would be quick for guests.
-
@DownPW Just my opinion, but seems a lot of effort for users you dont want anyway.
Personally think 'unusual' things like that, should not be included in Core. If someone makes it a plugin fair enough.
Core should be for the main functionality, which a significant number of the users want. -

Sure but in get's mode, the user don't bother us
The goal would really be to discourage a troll from remaining on the site as a registered user.
For example, in our forum, we allow maximum expression and only censor when strictly necessary.
Many trolls are very intelligent ((weird right? ) and know how to follow the rules while being extremely annoying.
--> This kind of thing would be great...

Maybe the problem is not with trolls, but with your rules or your idea of who is a troll. Saying uncomfortable things does not mean being a bad person.
I am radically against such a system, just as I am against any kind of shadow ban. If you are not happy with the user's behavior, just give him a warning. If you are not on the same page with him, block him. At least it is fair. Shadow bans and similar bullying are mean.

oh no no no no.
The problem does not come from me LOLYou will see when spammers and trolls come to make you miserable on your forum despite the warnings, the private messages by being nice and all the possible ways of doing things well.
Blocking him in his circumstances is absolutely... useless
In these cases these kinds of options can save your life. The problem is not my definition of a troll but the troll itself
