Guests should see all posts

Hi,

I have the latest nodebb up and want guests to be able to see all posts without having to log in. I am either missing something, a setting or there is no way to allow this?

As a guest, if I click on New topics, it tells me I need to log in.

@nodeham they should have privileges for viewing categories and topics by default. Maybe you need to allow searching content and/tags for that to work. But I'm just guessing.

In global, I see no option for guests to read posts.

On a per category/forum I do see access topics is allowed.

There must be something I am missing or not seeing?

@nodeham that part looks right, my thought was that guests might need to have the permission to 'Search Content' to see 'New Posts'. I assumed you meant the tab 'Recent Posts' and thought that it might be using search behind the scenes.

But again I'm not sure, I run mine with the private instance plugin so guests can't see anything.

In my case, I want as much as possible indexed by search engines and seen by guests.

Your privs setup look correct to me.

What exactly can't you see as a guest? Like what's the page relative path? What "New Topics" are you clicking on? Can you take a screenshot?

@pitaj Hi, Just when I click on New Topics, it shows 'There are no recent topics' when looking as a guest. And, it asks me to log in.

@nodeham there is no page called "New Topics". There's "Recent" and "Unread". Take a screenshot and link the respective page on this site.

@nodeham oooh, that's expected. There are no posts in that category. The selector just limits what is listed in that category, and the log in to post button is usually a 'new topic' button except being not logged in you are prompted to do so.
