I just updated nodebb and I have this notification in the admin

It's because there's no translation for your language setting. If you were to switch to en-GB, you'd see "Running NodeBB v1.8.1"

@teh_g yes, because the same applies to en-US. Every translation strong is based on en-GB.

The fallbacks should have been pushed to master now, we'll backport it to v1.8.x shortly.
