If those aren't working for you, then asking questions about issues you're having is the best way for us to help you. Unfortunately there's no apt install nodebb, and since we're under active development, there are many changes between versions, so upgrading can be difficult.

One thing I'm not sure about was the edit mongo .conf - It didn't have an auth=true ???
