Since I shared a few days ago that I have not been active here as I dealt with the imminent death of my brother, I thought I'd share now – at the risk of too much sharing – that my brother died this morning.

@Bodling Thank you so much. Yes, in so many ways, losing loved ones becomes harder and not easier as we go through our lives, doesn't it?

@wendinoakland Thanks for asking about me. I feel much pain and have felt it for some time now as my brother passed through this long suffering. I've learned with grief, that one just has to let it happen when it happens, when it washes over us, and try to be gentle with oneself. I'll keep trying!

Wow...
All the folks mentioned in your memoriam seem like lovely people I would have benefitted from knowing.
My heart (and the tear in my eye your memoriam wrought) go out to you and to all of them.

Thank you for sharing your moving reflection on your brother Philip's life and what he meant to you. As you say, "Life is a precious gift, and we must live it while it is given to us." May you gain strength from your knowledge of the love that connected you with your brother, including all the difficulties that come with every relation. This love still connects you with him even now. Sending good thoughts your way.

@wdlindsy So sorry for your loss. Your heartfelt 'in memoriam' is a beautiful and touching statement. Wishing you a future of all good things. It helps to remember the best parts of a life lost, but grief hurts in any event.

Thank you for sharing these remembrances and thoughts. Very sorry for your loss. Condolences to you and all those around you who share in your brother's loss and are in mourning. May the good memories and love comfort you. -
@wdlindsy You'd think that, as it happens more often now, we would somehow get used to it. Or at least have accumulated better tools to do the internal work of mourning.
