Editing .tpl files

Hi! I tried to add more category icons to the list, and edited the fontawesome.tpl file accordingly, but noticed that the changes do not save. Is it because it's cached, or is it just the way that it is and cannot be changed at all?

What is the file path you're editing? Are you rebuilding and restarting after the edit?

@pitaj Sorry for the late reply.
The path is NodeBB/src/views/partials/fontawesome.tpl. I tried rebuilding and restarting multiple times.
The file itself doesn't have anything special, I just added the fontawesome classes that I wanted to, but it still doesn't recognize them on the icon list.

@andrewweb have you inspected the html? It's possible what your addition is there but isn't showing up because the icons are missing.

I cleared the cache and restarted the forum.

@andrewweb none of those errors look relevant to the issue at hand. Have you inspected the HTML of an icon to see if it looks correct according to your template changes?

@pitaj Oh, you're right, sorry. The icons are also listed in the admin.css file, and I hadn't edited that yet. Is it safe to modify that file, or could it cause any issue?

Also, forgive me for asking, but should I open another thread about the socket errors? I'm not really seeing any issue on the platform.

@andrewweb the icons are all from fontawesome. You don't want to edit any css files. And if you edited admin.css, sure the icons might show up there, but they wouldn't show up on your forum.

You can try adding custom css at ACP > Customize > CSS. That might work.
