- and I don't mean Ubuntu, it doesn't fulfill most of the main reasons for GNU/Linux anymore.Anyway, I prefer the start-menu over the touchscreen-oriented screen.

All in all my opinion of Windows X is the same as of any other Windows version: Windows = Solitaire

@frissdiegurke As a developer, I love the fact it's going to be hybrid. It is easier to develop on more devices.

I have 8.1 and although it was a bit of a cultural-ish shock for me to have a different "start" menu, I ended up enjoying it. It seems like Windows is starting to really try to behave like Linux while still being Windows.

I have one PC here and it's still on Windows 7. I use it for gaming and website testing on client sites to make sure there is 100% compatibility since most of them are in the IBM/PC world and I know they're not on Macs like me.
What happened to Windows 9? LOL just skipping a version to jump on the bandwagon of being titled X?
Sharing a store with the phone market doesn't matter, I've never met someone with a Windows phone. Ever.

Windown 9 was skipped for legacy reasons. If software worked differently in win 95 or 98 than say xp then they'd use win 9x to catch both in software. Anyone running old software on a new machine running win9 would see issues.
We deploy lumia 760s at work which run Windows for people that don't want the galaxy s4 mini.

It's also shared with the Xbox One.
I for one switched to Windows Phone early 2011 and I never switched back. Have tried the latest Android and iOS and it's just not for me. They are supposedly actually fairly popular in Europe, I see them quite often here.
