RE: Late night crew
The Late Night Crew is FOREVER.
Hello julian
Hello psychobunnyI'm amazed at how far NodeBB has come since my last visit to this planet. Good times, I'm happy to see this forums continued success! Well deserved.
Now, for late night crew proper entertainment...... VITAS!

RE: Some iu styles
IMO this is the exact look I don't want my NodeBB to be. You have this beautiful architecture ready to roll a modern approach, and people are going to want it to look like vb 3.8 from 7 years ago.

Late night crew
what's up minions of the night?? Figure since I do a lot of my site stuff after wife and kid are upstairs asleep I would make a late night thread..
Watching the Miami Chicago bball game and testing NodeBB on my ipad both here and on my forum.. It's a different vibe.. Feels more social media than forums, digging it.

RE: Late night crew
@julian Of course. Years of php/mysql based forum experience and I don't want to log on to them now. I rather type by myself on a test forum seeding content because it flows that well.
@trevor I didn't care that it was not PHP/MySQL based but that intrigued me. I rather not horse around in the back end, that's one of the things I absolutely hate running vb communities, the constant bullshit.
Now that I've got the forum up other than working on the skin there is little to do other than why you log onto a community.. POST. 19 topics / 26 posts today on my test site today and I'm the only one there for now while I clean it up and get it a little more stylized.
I think that's what caught my attention so quickly. I didn't need to start another project. But once I saw the platform I wanted to.

RE: Need some help please
@julian
these all related to ubntu not centos.
@Outlawedoffroad
also this topic not perfect for CentOS, you are using ubntu too...and the link on github is not working...
Installing NodeBB on CentOSit should be fixed and should be step by step as for another tutorials are their.
and why not make a compatible auto install for cpanel. IMO most of people use cPANEL and one click nodebb install would be amazing.Actually all but the last 3-4 posts in my thread are 100% CentOS. It was not until after I spent countless hours trying to make it work I realized that I am not going to risk my 2 live forums on a development site. So I plunked down the 5 bucks and opened a Digital Ocean account to get rid of the headache.
I got it up and running almost exactly how I wanted it. But in the end the proxy issues presented when I have 2 live forums on the same server was more hassle than value so I moved the NodeBB site to ubuntu for the ease of use since it's what the developers are using here.
There is no "easy guide" yet, you have to put in a little work. Feel free to use any info in my thread to write up a CentOS guide for other users

RE: TIL the first bulletin board system could only support one user at a time
That's pretty much how all the old-school BBS's ran back in the day. I was running WWiV on C++ doing my own mods and compiles in the middle of the night after everyone logged in for their daily turns on the games.
The way information is now it's so much more accessible... almost dirty.

RE: Forum performance
Never had any kind of performance issues. Always quick loading with no delays.
I can't say that for all of my vb run forums.

RE: [nodebb-plugin-openfantasy] Full-fledged RPG system for NodeBB
I remember when I ran a BBS and had The Pit for my dial-up users to play. Kick ass game and this is a fun addition to many genre of forums.

RE: The Windows 10 Opinions Topic...
I have one PC here and it's still on Windows 7. I use it for gaming and website testing on client sites to make sure there is 100% compatibility since most of them are in the IBM/PC world and I know they're not on Macs like me.
What happened to Windows 9? LOL just skipping a version to jump on the bandwagon of being titled X?
Sharing a store with the phone market doesn't matter, I've never met someone with a Windows phone. Ever.

RE: Introducing the NodeBB 0.7.0 Persona preview
I love coming in every few weeks and seeing what changes are unfolding at NodeBB. This update looks fantastic and I'm happy for you guys with how much the community has grown since my first post.
A+++ now all I need is a f'n project so I can use NodeBB
