How do i remove the search icon from the nav bar right side?

it has come from nodebb-plugin-dbsearch

@traarrr why would your want to remove that icon? How are users supposed to find anything that's not immediately on the screen in front of them?

Not sure this is a good idea if you are talking about removing the default search icon. Can you post a screenshot of what you're referring to?

@traarrr In Admin Dashboard, Manage>Privileges. All from registered-users down to guest, untick search content. It will hide the search icon from group(s) you selected. try it.

@phenomlab I have a custom search box which is linked to the form coming from dbsearch therefore, the search icon is not needed.

What @bornelite suggested should work on harmony theme. The conditional was missing on persona so I added it here https://github.com/NodeBB/nodebb-theme-persona/commit/e6f700d37c4671fa8261c6f8cd350bfbd7b835a2. If you apply that change or update persona to 13.3.25 it should work.

I want the search functionality just not the button.

@traarrr , use customize plugin and chop that search icon code off from the header.tpl (either header or nav, check). See if it works. Make that same change in the codebase if you want it permanently.

@traarrr not sure I understand the need for a plugin like customise when css alone could have simply hidden the search icon.

Css did it for the desktop but somehow did not work for the mobile device view
