What @bornelite suggested should work on harmony theme. The conditional was missing on persona so I added it here https://github.com/NodeBB/nodebb-theme-persona/commit/e6f700d37c4671fa8261c6f8cd350bfbd7b835a2. If you apply that change or update persona to 13.3.25 it should work.

I want the search functionality just not the button.

@traarrr , use customize plugin and chop that search icon code off from the header.tpl (either header or nav, check). See if it works. Make that same change in the codebase if you want it permanently.

@traarrr not sure I understand the need for a plugin like customise when css alone could have simply hidden the search icon.

Css did it for the desktop but somehow did not work for the mobile device view
