Interesting. Their forum is very clean. Are they using their own code? NodeBB is pretty fascinating, I'm glad I found you. I have a couple big forums stuck on vBulletin and I'm trying to figure out how to modernize. Deep diving on Discourse and you.

Wow, thanks guys for the replies! I'll try it out after I had something to eat. I'm very excited to try out NodeBB. @frissdiegurke said: Greetings back from Germany PS: Great decision to use arch Yay, another German. And yes, we all love arch, don't we?

@a_5mith tnx for replay smith. What we need is to have option for users to upload big images like 5mb, but we wanna display it in category listing as a smaller image, not whole 3000px image. So is there anyway we can get two images when users uploading it ? One with original size, and another which will be resized and showed under listing as many posts on same page. And yes, it's being uploaded and hosted on our server.

Heheh... no best practices as of yet, but that is the appeal of NodeBB. I (and I think the other admins and reps share our vision on this) really wanted NodeBB to be a "pick and choose" system to allow you to build a system you want to build, instead of what some other entity has decided. I liken it to buying a computer. You could save time (and maybe money) by taking something off-the-shelf that a big box manufacturer as put together, or you could build the computer you want by picking the parts and assembling them together yourself. As for best practices -- Node is really all about division of responsibility. Don't do things unless you absolutely have to do them, that sort of thing. This is why: Search is handled by Solr plugin Avatars are handled by Gravatar Emails are handled by Mandrill Image uploads are handled by Imgur

@frissdiegurke either that or text complete can be a standalone plugin that other plugins can add stuff into.

A number of changes to v0.5.0 end up breaking a whole bunch of plugins. But the good news is after v0.5.0, we'll enter a non-breaking-change phase where successive patch versions (v0.5.1, 0.5.2, etc) will not break compatibility... or we'll try not to, rather.

The current steps outline how to compile the package yourself, however, they do now have a version for the raspberry pi, well, up to 0.10.26 anyway. So might be worth changing the Debian NodeJS section with wget http://nodejs.org/dist/v0.10.26/node-v0.10.26-linux-arm-pi.tar.gz tar -xvzf node-v0.10.26-linux-arm-pi.tar.gz node-v0.10.26-linux-arm-pi/bin/node --version You should see: v0.10.26 NODE_JS_HOME=/home/pi/node-v0.10.26-linux-arm-pi PATH=$PATH:$NODE_JS_HOME/bin npm —version You should see: 1.4.3 Not sure if this helps or not..

Ran into this issue as well, used conditionals which Baris broke when everything switched over to loggedIn rather than isLoggedIn. Ah well, it's nice having every conditional the same anyways!
