@johntn Because NodeBB requires dependencies to be installed, we cannot do anything more on our end to make NodeBB install as easy as PHP's "upload to server, browse to site".

You can't install software on a domain. A domain is just a name that gets resolved to a server (which you have to pay separately in most cases); This happens via DNS records. So basically you need to buy a server (or host one by yourself which I don't recommend, especially for beginners) and a domain. You set-up your domain to use the nameservers (NS) of your server provider (or the IP directly, but if your server provider has nameservers it's recommended to use them). In most cases you just tell your server provider which domain to resolve to which server and he'll generate a basic set of DNS records. After a period of 4 to 24 hours (in most cases) the connection between domain name and server will be established. In the mean time you can set-up anything on your server like NodeBB (you can test by using the static IP address of your server instead of domain name). For a server provider a common choice is digitalocean which offers pricing from USD5 per month. You can get a USD10 credit using this referral link.

You can see the rss routes here. There really isn't a 'main' route. recent.rss or recentposts.rss is probably what you want though.

2 years ago, some people think NodeBB is unnecessary.https://www.reddit.com/r/startups/comments/1gvg7d/show_rstartups_we_were_sick_of_how_stagnant_forum/ But now, NodeBB has proved itself.

@charles Are you a part of that community? If so, definitely put a good word in about NodeBB, and have them reach out to us! We'd be happy to discuss those questions with their forum admin one-on-one.

@SgtBurden No good reason and I havent used Robomongo in a while. I just remember it being very confusing. Mongochef is similar enough to a mysql client not to freak me out I did the query that way because I was just trying things out - your way makes more sense in this context

Looks like the description is now parsed to prevent issues with spacing when subcategories are used. ex https://github.com/NodeBB/NodeBB/issues/4355

Thanks for your reply! I figured as I am aware of the diferences, but worth to ask as from my perspective meteor is easier to develop with. I am new to NodeBB, and my opinion is that it is an amazing piece of software and the developers did an amazing job. It has it all as a skeleton for bigger and better apps (from my perspective) and it is sad that is made just as a forum. I am learning now how to extend the nodebb functionality.

@Moritz-Friedrich solved it somehow ugly by starting the tests in a "ready" callback. Is there some way to find out whether downloaded code has been fully executed?
