im not using reputation, how does it determine what a "new user" is?

if this feature doesn't exist, even as a plugin then I am just flabbergasted.

my tiny forum is getting pummelled so hard by spammers that I'm probably just going to delete it, i dont see a way around it.

if that makes it so they can't post, it wont work for me because it will take too long to approve new users. plus we need to see what they will post before approving them

oh. well i suppose i can create my own group and exclude that from the post queue.

how can my moderators add them to that group though?

I want to put all posts from unverified users into the post queue, and once they're verified they don't. There seems to be "verified users" and "unverified users" groups already, but I don't see where to assign users to these groups aside from the admin panel.

I looked into the spam blocking set, yet most of them block signups (I'm using sso from my own site, so that's not it). And I just learned I'm not allowed to use akismet because i technically have ads on my site, despite only earning $100 a month (which is far less than my expenses). I can't afford $10 a month.

There has to be another way to block spammers. Perhaps require moderation when someone includes a link in their first post? I do not want to use reputation.

@max-0 It's just far more annoying to log into my server and find the right folder and remember how to run commands in docker. I wish you could just install/update packages from the admin panel.

Does that mean my theme would be listed in everyone elses plugin list? It's a custom theme for my site, not something I want to publish

I have a custom theme uploaded to github, and installed and active on my forum.

On the plugins list it says "Installed 1.0.0 | Latest 1.0.0"

I updated the version number in package.json on github, why does nodebb still say the latest is 1.0.0? Where is it getting the number from? How do I tell nodebb there's been an update (hopefully without just reinstalling it via command line)

@dunlix I'm already using a custom theme, but my site has it's own login system where the user is shown logged in at the top -- this would not be possible if i put it into a nodebb theme. Also session-sharing and iframe is already working perfectly.

I think I've got it, seems that they need to be separated by a space, not by commas.

Maybe it's just impossible. If I switch the content-security policy from one site to the other it works fine, maybe comma separated values just aren't allowed. But the first one before the comma still works for some reason. Also under the entry in settings it says "'none', 'self'(default) or list of URIs to allow. ", which seems to imply that you can have multiple.

I have my forum embedded in my main site properly. But I need it to work on another url too.

I tried adding the sites comma separated to "Content-Security-Policy" and "Access-Control-Allow-Origin" (under advanced > headers), but it still only works on the main site. On the other one I get:

what am i doing wrong

I'm not really interested in doing anything that would require editing CSS, so I will be sticking with v4. It just seemed like we were able to use more icons by pasting in the name.

I opened an issue and the link has been updated so at least the next new users who comes across this wont be completely confused.

I'm trying to use the "palette" icon, it's not in the list provided by default, but is on the font awesome website

When you pick an icon for a category, you can choose from a bunch of icons.

Then at the bottom, it says "For a full list of icons, please consult: FontAwesome"

But if I go to fontawesome, copy an icon name, and paste it into the icon chooser, it doesn't work, the icon is just blank.

How do I use icons not included by default?
