"The tragic, brutal murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson has elicited contempt for the unfettered greed and capitalism of health insurance companies.

"Thatβs my current read on this shocking and tragic story which is still evolving as law enforcement searches for the motive and engages in a city-wide manhunt for the masked killer. The fact there are so many morbid jo kes around the murder of Brian Thompson reveals the level of contempt people have toward the greed of CEOs, insurance companies, and healthcare profiteers."

"Iβve always wondered how a society that is addicted to guns will eventually respond to the reality that the billionaire class, which includes Elon Musk and MAGA donors, continues to pillage our resources, our pensions, and our social benefits."

"Donald Trump and MAGA represent his donor class that has used and abused divisive and racist culture wars to ascend to the White House and government where they enact tax cuts and de-regulation policies that will continue only to help the 1%."
This assumes that all those duped by Trump and Republican culture-war politics will wake up to the fact that they've been duped β a large assumption, I think.

@wdlindsy Wasn't really all that brutal. Nor probably all that tragic. #Khashoggi was both.

@wdlindsy The TV true crime shows that cover this murder should get good ratings.

I've also been observing this, and I think I have an answer that would fit nicely with quite a few .
I spend a lot of effort maintaining my health (sans insurance) and working harder and harder to afford necessities.
All the while, landlords raise rent, corporations take more and more, and advertisers tell you that it's wonderful that you're buying from them.
I decided that to save energy and sanity, I would restrict my morals to my fellows in the population who struggle as I do.

If by 'wake up and pay attention,' he means get more security, isolate further from the peasants, etc, then probably.
"The tragic, brutal murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson has elicited contempt for the unfettered greed and capitalism of health insurance companies. Will the rich wake up and pay attention?"

"we invite you to join us in organizing festivals of resistance on the weekend of January 18, immediately before Donald Trump takes office. This is a crucial opportunity to engage in outreach, education, and action ahead of what it is sure to be a tumultuous time."

@wdlindsy 75% of the core maga cult voters will know they got duped....half of those will be ignorant of ways, means by which they get screwed. Other half moan a bit...but hey, our guy won, we owned the libs!! Rest of the electorate knew they'd get plowed under the corruption, billionaire bro grift & favoritism if maga won. But hard to see how it matters...we handed trump the keys, he's throwing "of, by, for the people" out the window. Elections in 2028?...me thinks not....

Tbh it's not really tragic. What's tragic is all the ordinary people who had to die so that parasite could get another yacht.

The man who murdered that CEO may have saved a lot of lives. He should be celebrated as a hero. The man who died became wealthy killing human beings for money.Best comment I've seen about this (not mine) "This death could have been prevented by universal healthcare."

Why are we expressing sympathy for a man who got wealthy killing people for money? Has our society become this corrupt that we mourn the deaths of murderous monsters? That gunman likely saved human lives.

Shocking and tragic are certainly words that could be used.
It's shocking that he had to face the consequences of his decisions, and tragic that it's not going to change a damn thing about how UnitedHealth operates.
