If by 'wake up and pay attention,' he means get more security, isolate further from the peasants, etc, then probably.
"The tragic, brutal murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson has elicited contempt for the unfettered greed and capitalism of health insurance companies. Will the rich wake up and pay attention?"

"we invite you to join us in organizing festivals of resistance on the weekend of January 18, immediately before Donald Trump takes office. This is a crucial opportunity to engage in outreach, education, and action ahead of what it is sure to be a tumultuous time."

@wdlindsy 75% of the core maga cult voters will know they got duped....half of those will be ignorant of ways, means by which they get screwed. Other half moan a bit...but hey, our guy won, we owned the libs!! Rest of the electorate knew they'd get plowed under the corruption, billionaire bro grift & favoritism if maga won. But hard to see how it matters...we handed trump the keys, he's throwing "of, by, for the people" out the window. Elections in 2028?...me thinks not....

Tbh it's not really tragic. What's tragic is all the ordinary people who had to die so that parasite could get another yacht.

@wdlindsy
The man who murdered that CEO may have saved a lot of lives. He should be celebrated as a hero. The man who died became wealthy killing human beings for money.Best comment I've seen about this (not mine) "This death could have been prevented by universal healthcare."

Why are we expressing sympathy for a man who got wealthy killing people for money? Has our society become this corrupt that we mourn the deaths of murderous monsters?That gunman likely saved human lives.

Shocking and tragic are certainly words that could be used.
It's shocking that he had to face the consequences of his decisions, and tragic that it's not going to change a damn thing about how UnitedHealth operates.

They won't do anything at all as the gun owners as a class are in the vast majority brainwashed right-wing nut jobs with barely a spare brain cell between them!

@mamiyaman Perhaps. There sometimes come times when no matter how large of a police wall you construct around yourself, it's not enough.

@tofugolem Personally, I'm never in favor of killing anyone to save lives, though I realize there are sometimes stark moral choices in which that might be an ethically defensible choice β as when BonhΓΆffer chose to participate in an attempt to have Hitler assassinated.

@theogrin Yes, I agree β and people are making assumptions about the motive for this shooting, of course, that haven't yet been verified. But I also remind myself of that Pete Seeger song that inspired so much resistance and determination in the Civil Rights and anti-war movements: "Step by Step."
