how does nodebb handle new install with existing database?
what happens during npm install --production?

@charles npm install --production only installs dependencies. nothing happens to the database.

@pichalite had problems and will have to test again and report back.

Host I've been with for many moons, has nodejs option?

@The-Worms Well thank you very much! how do I enable development mode so that when a file is changed, it is hot-loaded? now when you change the file is fully assembled and each change you need to wait for 20 seconds to see the result

Oops. Didn't see this one. Try what @pitaj said and hopefully it should work. IIRC the hooks in that plugin should still be valid in the current release, I just haven't updated the nbb package manager version for 0.8.2 yet
