I'm not an electrician, but I feel like this is the sort of thing that would give electricians nightmares...

@ilikepi @catsalad If it’s actually got a UL listing on it, I’d say it’s great. Honestly I’d rather something like that than 2 or 3 power strips plugged into another power strip on the end of a piece of zip cord with little usb chargers budding off the zip cord. Cable management, on the other hand, is going to be something. (Disclaimer: I am an electrician although I am not your electrician)

@rmd1023 @ilikepi That one is nice, but I prefer the SUPERDANA Power Strip (by @NanoRaptor)

@catsalad @rmd1023 @ilikepi @NanoRaptor I too love burning my home down!

@NosirrahSec @catsalad @rmd1023 @ilikepi @NanoRaptor If that does more than trip your fuse, you're doing it wrong.
-
@Uncoiled2777 @catsalad @rmd1023 @ilikepi @NanoRaptor It has nothing to do with what I do wrong than what some rando dude did (not this house specifically, but more the general public's housing) whatever amount of years ago with the wiring in the house.

"Oops, I didn't know the difference between a 10amp and a 30amp and now my house is ash."
(those little round fuses are fucking one-size-fits-all)

Is this... still a thing?

@mattdm @Uncoiled2777 @catsalad @rmd1023 @ilikepi @NanoRaptor oh, very much so!
You'll still find much of this in New England.

We had fuses in a Boston University-owned apartment in The Year 2000, and now that I remember that, I'd be shocked if they've updated anything.

Also, that apartment was on the first floor, and the panel in the basement, and we weren't supposed to go down there without facilities but one time they left the door unlocked and I did some exploring and, looking up, discovered that the entire floor underneath our bathtub had rotted away and it was basically hanging on by the plumbing.

@mattdm @NosirrahSec @Uncoiled2777 @catsalad @ilikepi @NanoRaptor Probably figure that they'll eventually be flipping it to a developer who'll do a full gut on the building and make luxury condos so why waste the money...

I think the universities here only acquire more and more real estate, never sell.
